Simon Hughes MP to open new nursery in Southwark on 7th February

Simon Hughes MP will be cutting the ribbon at the opening of the new Canada Kids nursery in Canada Water, Rotherhithe, on Friday 7th February at 4pm.

Simon has worked closely with the Director of the nursery, Ms Dimple Sholay, to help support her Ofsted application and to enable her to stay in her previous nursery premises at Canada Water.

Simon met with parents last year and discussed the need for new childcare provision in the Canada Water area following the closure of Canada Tots Nursery

It comes just a few weeks after the Liberal Democrat council group in Southwark announced their flagship policy to offer one day a month free childcare to all local 2, 3 and 4 year olds. The policy, which will save parents on average £448 for each eligible child, will be introduced if Liberal Democrats win control of the council in May’s local elections.

Simon Hughes said:

“At a time when more high quality childcare is much needed in my constituency, I am delighted to have been able to help get Canada Kids nursery off the ground.”
