During a walkabout with London Assembly member Caroline Pidgeon and Liberal Democrat council group leader Cllr Anood Al-Samerai, down the Old Kent Road, businesses registered 100% support for the campaign to extend the Bakerloo Line.
The proposal for a Bakerloo extension down Old Kent Road was 100% supported by all the local businesses we spoke to. The general consensus was that two new stations are needed along Old Kent Road: one at the Bricklayer’s Arms roundabout, and one further south. Not only would this bring extra transport links for residents, it would also give a huge economic boost to the area.
All local residents and businesses who back an extension of the line should put their weight behind it by signing the petition on this website. With enough local support behind it, it can finally happen.
Jenni Slader (above left), owner of Direct Portfolio (a property management business on Old Kent Road for 10 years) said:
“Having the underground here would be amazing. It would boost the area and having better transportation on the Old Kent Road would not just be of benefit to businesses, it would also make a big difference to residents.”
“It seems ridiculous that such a famous part of London doesn’t have an underground station.”
