I would like to wish all of my Jewish brothers and sisters Hannukah sameach (Happy Hannukah) as today is the start of Hannukah, the Jewish festival of light.
Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days, in honor of the miracle of the oil that lasted eight days in the Holy Temple.
The story of the Maccabees and their fight for religious freedom is a story that we of the present would be wise not to disregard as religious tolerance is still being fought for in all corners of the globe, by people of all beliefs and backgrounds.
I hope each and every one of you enjoys the holiday with your family, friends and loved ones and that you eat a healthy amount of latkes, a personal favourite of mine!
Again, chag sameach!
